We live in turbulent times. Unemployment not seen since The Great Depression. Racial divisions. Financial stress. Civil unrest. Heightened tensions. Yet now is the greatest opportunity we’ve had in our generation to do something about it. No longer can we just go about our lives as if nothing’s wrong, as if no one’s hurting. Why? Because we were made for more.
We weren’t made to sit idly by. We weren’t made to just be satisfied. And solutions don’t start with a social media post. They don’t start with legislation or even political leadership. Solutions start with personal leadership. It is our responsibility to be the change we want to see. Change begins with you and with me.
It’s time to open the door and be radically intentional about inviting others into your life who don’t look like you, talk like you or think like you. Why? Because it’s the right thing to do. And because life is way more fulfilling (even though it can be messy) when you share it with a wide variety of other people too.
And if you’re a follower of Jesus like me, there’s never been a better time than now to be the change you want to see. How? By inviting others into your life to have conversations with and to do life with you. That’s the best way they can see for themselves the hope and change you have. Then maybe, just maybe, they’ll want it too. Regardless, maybe they’ll just want to know you.
